How to cancel YouTube Premium
YouTube Premium bills through your Google account, so cancellation lives in YouTube's paid memberships page. There's also a pause option (1–6 months) most people don't know about.
Quick answer
youtube.com/paid_memberships — log in and follow the steps below. Cancelling takes about five minutes.
Step-by-step
- Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships while signed in.
- Click Manage membership next to Premium.
- Choose Deactivate → Continue to cancel (or Pause payments if you just want a break).
- Confirm the cancellation.
What happens after you cancel
Premium benefits (no ads, background play, YouTube Music) last until the end of the billing period, then the account reverts to regular YouTube.
Worth knowing
- Subscribed on an iPhone? Apple bills it at a higher price — cancel via iOS Settings → Subscriptions, and consider resubscribing on the web for the lower rate.
- Family plan cancellation by the manager removes Premium for all members at period end.
What the charge looks like
YouTube Premium typically bills $3–$30 per month, and its renewal emails come from youtube.com. BeforeItBills detects those emails automatically and warns you 7 days before each charge — so the next renewal never sneaks past you.
Stop finding out after the charge.
BeforeItBills scans your inbox and warns you 7 days before any subscription bills you. No bank connection — free on iOS.
