How to cancel Microsoft 365
Microsoft 365 (Personal/Family) cancels from your Microsoft account's services page. Microsoft is unusually generous: annual subscriptions cancelled within 30 days of renewal get refunded.
Quick answer
account.microsoft.com/services — log in and follow the steps below. Cancelling takes about five minutes.
Step-by-step
- Sign in at account.microsoft.com/services.
- Find Microsoft 365 and click Manage.
- Choose Cancel subscription (or Turn off recurring billing, which lets the current term run out without renewing).
- Follow the confirmation flow — it will state any refund you're owed.
What happens after you cancel
Office apps go read-only and OneDrive drops to 5 GB after the paid term. Files over quota stay accessible for download but you can't add new ones.
Worth knowing
- 'Turn off recurring billing' is the gentler option: same end result, no immediate change.
- Bought through Apple/Google? Cancel in the respective store's subscription settings.
What the charge looks like
Microsoft 365 typically bills $5–$400 per month, and its renewal emails come from microsoft.com. BeforeItBills detects those emails automatically and warns you 7 days before each charge — so the next renewal never sneaks past you.
