Rocket Money Alternatives: 5 Subscription Trackers That Don't Need Your Bank Login

June 11, 2026 · 5 min read

Rocket Money earned its place at the top of the subscription-tracker category: link your bank, and it finds recurring charges, negotiates bills, and cancels services for you. But the search for alternatives usually starts from one of three places — you don't want to hand an app your bank login, your bank isn't supported (which is nearly everyone outside the US), or the premium pricing and upsells wore you down. Here's what to use instead, depending on which of those is you.

Why people look for an alternative

  • Bank access. Rocket Money works through Plaid, which means granting a third party read access to your full transaction history — every coffee, not just subscriptions.
  • Geography. Plaid coverage is US-first, partial in Canada and Europe, and effectively absent in Latin America, Asia, and Africa. Outside the US, the app simply can't do its core job.
  • Price and upsells. The useful features sit behind Premium ($6–$12/month on a choose-your-price slider), and the free tier spends a lot of energy selling you the upgrade.

1. BeforeItBills — automatic detection without the bank (ours)

BeforeItBills gets the 'automatic' part of Rocket Money a different way: instead of your bank feed, it reads the renewal emails already in your inbox, with read-only access. It detects 500+ services, asks you to confirm every match, and warns you seven days before each charge — and because it never touches a bank, it works in any country. Free on iOS. What it doesn't do: negotiate bills or cancel on your behalf. You get the warning in time to cancel yourself.

2. Bobby — the manual minimalist

No accounts, no permissions, no servers: Bobby is a hand-built list with renewal reminders, stored on your phone. A one-time purchase unlocks unlimited subscriptions. It detects nothing — but if what bothered you about Rocket Money was access, Bobby asks for none at all.

3. ReSubs — free, private, shared lists

ReSubs is manual like Bobby but adds shared lists (useful for households splitting streaming services) and a generous free tier across platforms. Privacy-first by design: it knows only what you type in.

4. TrackMySubs — for the business stack

If the subscriptions you actually lose money on are work tools — hosting, domains, SaaS seats — TrackMySubs is built around that: web-based, folder organization, alerts placed well before renewal so you can cancel within the notice window.

5. Monarch Money — if you wanted the budgeting, not just the tracker

Some Rocket Money users actually want the full money app around the subscription feature. Monarch does budgets, net worth, and investment tracking with recurring-charge detection included, at $14.99/month. Note it shares Rocket Money's core limitation: it's built on US bank connections.

The honest comparison

If you're in the US, happy to link your bank, and want a concierge to cancel things for you — stay with Rocket Money; nothing on this list replicates the negotiation service. If what you want is to *know about every charge before it happens* without surrendering bank access, email-based detection is the closest thing to automatic, and manual trackers are the zero-access fallback. We keep a fuller comparison of all seven major trackers here.

Stop finding out after the charge.

BeforeItBills scans your inbox and warns you 7 days before any subscription bills you. No bank connection — free on iOS.
